I am a 2nd year PhD student in the Transporter Biology Group at the University of Sydney. My research focuses on transporters within the glutamate transporter (SLC1A) family, using electrophysiology and radiolabelled uptake assays to uncover the molecular mechanisms which underlie their unique transporter dynamics. I am interested in understanding how the interaction between the dual transport and chloride conductance modes in the SLC1A transporters can be harnessed to develop novel inhibitors for the treatment of a range of neurological disorders characterised by glutamate transport and signalling dysfunction.
