Dr Kyra Webb is a Research Fellow with the Psycho-Oncology Co-operative Research Group based in the School of Psychology at The University of Sydney. Her research focuses on improving psychosocial outcomes for people affected by cancer and their carers. Dr Webb’s early career work has centred on carer experiences of fear and worry about their loved one’s cancer returning or progressing. Specifically, this work involved developing a theoretical model and validated measure to capture carer-specific concerns. Her current program of research seeks to extend this foundation through the development of a psychological intervention to help carers manage fear of cancer recurrence. Through this work she aims to improve outcomes for cancer carers by developing evidence-based tools and support that is appropriately tailored to carer needs.
