Ziba is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Sydney and Chief Scientific Officer at DetectedX. Her research focuses on artificial intelligence in healthcare, particularly medical imaging, with expertise spanning cancer imaging, risk prediction, human–AI interaction, and the clinical implementation of AI systems. Ziba leads multidisciplinary research programs that develop and validate AI tools to support earlier disease detection, improve diagnostic accuracy, and enable safer, more equitable healthcare delivery. Her work combines technical AI innovation with a strong focus on real-world translation, clinician decision-making, and patient outcomes. Alongside her research, Dr. Gandomkar is actively involved in AI-powered workforce education and AI-readiness training, developing innovative educational approaches to help professionals adapt to rapidly evolving technologies. Through collaborations across academia, healthcare, and industry, she explores how AI can be implemented responsibly while supporting workforce capability, digital literacy, and human-centred adoption. With more than 100 peer-reviewed publications and extensive international collaborations, she is committed to ensuring AI is translated into practical, trustworthy, and beneficial solutions for both professionals and the broader community.
