Dr Andrea Smith is a Daffodil Centre Research Fellow, University of Sydney. Her research interests include improving supportive care for people living with metastatic or advanced cancer, with a particular focus on metastatic breast cancer. Her current projects include improving access to professionally run metastatic breast cancer support groups, understanding the role and value of the metastatic breast care nurse, increasing attention on metastatic survivorship research in Australia, and understanding how we can improve the reporting of incidence and prevalence of metastatic breast cancer in Australia. She works closely as a consumer advocate with several national and international breast cancer advocacy organisations including Breast Cancer Network Australia and the ABC Global Alliance.
She is also involved in several implementation projects in melanoma for the Centre of Research Excellence in Melanoma.
